Cat Colours and Patterns

TABBIES

Most cats are tabbies, actually. Here are some tabby patterns.

Classic tabby.

 Mackerel tabby.

Spotted tabby.

Also called the "torbie".

Now here are the colours tabbies come in.

Red tabby.
All gingers actually have tabby markings and are thus red tabbies.

Silver tabby.

 SOLIDS

Solids are full-colour cats with no tabby markings.

Black.

Technically there can be no red or cream solid cats as they always have tabby markings or "ghost markings" although some people don't think the ghost markings count.

SMOKES

Generally, you can clearly see a smoke's light undercoat.

But sometimes, it's almost invisible.

Only brown tabby bicolours are referred to as "tabby bicolours".

So what coat colour/patern does your cat have? We own two solid blacks, a smoke black, and a black bicolour. :)

  2. Aww! They're all so cute! I (think) Ginger is a red tabby. . .My favorites are ticked and patched tabbies, red point, tabby tortoiseshell, and the tortoiseshell-and-white. The regular tortoiseshell looks like a black cat that was well and thoroughly burned 0.0

    1. Yeah! :)
Tabby tortoiseshells and patched tabbies are actually the same thing. It's where tabby and tortoiseshell coats overlap, if you see what I mean. :) I think they're beautiful.
Haha, yes it does a bit. ;)

  3. We had a Seal Point and a Lilac Point Siamese! :3 The Lilac was really small as an adult and her voice was hoarse all the time. She was also CRAZY! Like me! XD We had to give her away after her best friend, the Seal Point, died. She died from swallowing ponytail holders. Comical, but sad. I'll miss them.

  4. Awww! These cats are SO cute! I think you should do a separate section about Warrior Cats and what they could be in real life.

    1. Well, I'm not sure I'd be able to do that as I've only read one Warrior Cats book and I don't know much about the characters. Thanks for the suggestion though! :D

    you forgot tabby points.
I love tabby point birmans, & not most point cats are siamese. its normally a mix of birmans, burmese & siamese. kind of equal.
You also forgot another cat style...HAIRLESS!
I dnt like hairless cats at all. i feel sorry 4 them... 0-0 just my opinion tho...

      I love cats too! :3
What one would think are tabby points are actually tabby bicolours, and hairless cats only come in one breed ;)
      And I agree with you.
